Man hits clerk in robbery at liquor store near Pawnee and Broadway

A man tried to leave the Pawnee Liquor store with a bottle under his shirt Friday night, and when an employee confronted him, the man hit the clerk, police said Saturday.

The employee, 34, had minor injuries, and a suspect, 32, was arrested in the area, police Sgt. John Hoofer said.

The robbery happened at 10:55 p.m. at the store at 606 E. Pawnee, Hoofer said. Police were driving by when they noticed the commotion. The man who hit the clerk took off, but a suspect was found later in the area and was arrested, Hoofer said.
