Boy, 2, found dead at Kansas home. Cops arrest his father on suspicion of murder

The father of a child was arrested on suspicion of murder after police found his son dead at their southwest Kansas home, officials said.

Deputies with the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office were called at around 4 p.m. Tuesday to a check the welfare of a child at a home in Moscow, Kansas Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Melissa Underwood said in a release. They found a dead boy in the home, in the 2000 block of Road Y.

The boy was identified as 2-year-old Mikhail Lahey Jr. His father, Mikhail Lahey Sr., 34, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in connection to the death of his son, the KBI said. Lahey was detained at the scene and questioned before he was booked into the Stevens County Jail later that night.

The KBI is assisting with the investigation.
