One man shot, killed at party in Haysville, police say

One man was shot and killed at a party in Haysville, police said in a written statement.

At about 1:46 a.m. Sunday, the Haysville Police Department was called to the 1900 block of east Diedrich because of “possible gun shots in the area,” the release states.

When officers arrived, they saw a “large crowd leaving a party at a local venue after a fight had broken out,” Lt. Greg Wright said in the release. That’s when police found a man who had died from injuries after being shot. The age or name of the man was not released.

The fatal shooting is still under investigation, police say. The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office and the Wichita Police Department are assisting with the investigation.
