Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who sideswiped drivers in west Wichita after officers called off a chase.

Officers had tried to pull over a vehicle in the area of Maple and Ridge at around 5:30 p.m. Friday, Officer Paul Cruz said. The driver refused to pull over, and officers terminated their pursuit shortly after.

After the chase had been called off, the vehicle reportedly sideswiped two other drivers, Cruz said.

The vehicle was found a few minutes later in the area of 13th and Maize, Cruz said. Those intersections are about 4 miles apart. Officers found a gun that had been reported stolen and drugs inside the vehicle.

Police are looking for the driver and ask anyone who may have seen him fleeing the vehicle to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111. He is described as a 6-foot-4, 220-pound white man of medium build.
