Pizza Hut delivery driver robbed in north Wichita

Wichita Eagle file

Four men jumped a Pizza Hut delivery driver on Tuesday at an abandoned house in north Wichita, police say.

The driver brought pizzas to a residence in the 1400 block of North St. Francis at around 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Pizza Hut employee soon realized he was delivering pizzas to a vacant house, police said.

That’s when four teenagers who looked to be around the age of 18 came up and pushed him to the ground. They took money and food, Wichita police Officer Paul Cruz said. One of the teenagers had a mustache, Cruz said.

The robbery was not reported until 5 p.m., Cruz said. That’s three hours after the robbery.

Cruz said he did not know why it took so long for the crime to be reported.

The delivery driver sustain “very minor injuries” from being pushed on the ground, Cruz said. No weapons were involved in the robbery.
