‘Trick or Treat?’ Nebraska troopers find 24,400 marijuana candy bars in speeding van
A pair of Massachusetts motorists who had been speeding on the interstate were arrested in Nebraska after troopers found over $500,000 worth of illegal marijuana products in their van.
A 2018 Dodge Caravan was speeding on I-80 near Milford when troopers pulled the van over at around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, the Nebraska State Patrol said in a release.
“During the traffic stop, the trooper detected criminal activity and conducted a search of the vehicle,” the release said.
Troopers found 24,400 THC-laced candy bars packed into 488 boxes, the release said, in addition to 465 units of THC wax and 11 pounds of marijuana. Together, their estimated street value is more than $550,000.
“Trick or Treat?” the state patrol said in a tweet announcing its largest seizure of THC edibles.
Anthony Iovieno, 44, and Casey Pichette, 38, both of North Grafton, Mass., were arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled substances with intent to deliver, the release said.
