Update: Man crashes into mom and her child; police end standoff, have suspect in custody

Wichita Police said the incident at 31st St. South and Clifton is over.

The incident “has been resolved and suspect has been taken into custody without incident” according the tweet from Wichita Police.

A mom and her child were injured in a hit-and-run crash, and the driver who left the scene has barricaded inside of a nearby residence, according to a tweet from the Wichita Police Department. Both the woman and her child are in serious condition, a dispatch supervisor confirmed.

The crash was reported at about 2:15 p.m. Sunday. A SWAT team has been called to the area near 31st St. South and Clifton — the same scene as the crash — to “resolve this peacefully,” police said.
