Amnesty program for child support is next week
Correction: The amnesty days next week are for child support bench warrants only. An earlier version of this story contained incorrect information.
People with outstanding child support bench warrants in Sedgwick County can have them withdrawn for a fee next week.
Amnesty will be offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 24 and 25 in the basement of the Sedgwick County Courthouse, 525 N. Main.
Those wanted in Kansas Department of Children and Families cases can get new court dates by paying two months of child support or $500, whichever is less, per case. If there is no DCF involvement, call 316-660-5909 for information on how to get your warrant withdrawn.
Payment may be made with cash, money order or cashier’s check.
Absconders from work release are not eligible.
To check whether you have an outstanding child-support warrant, call 316-660-5825 or 316-660-5909.
The amnesty days are offered by the Sedgwick County 18th Judicial District Court Trustee’s Office, according to a news release.
