Alert neighbor helps snag burglars in west Wichita, police say
Two men have been arrested in west Wichita after a neighbor called police at 2:30 in the morning.
Wichita police responded to a burglary-in-progress call at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday in the 7100 block of West 11th, near 13th and Ridge, after an “alert citizen” reported two people removing property from a nearby house that was under construction, police said.
The neighbor gave police a description of the getaway truck, a silver Ford F-150, and police found a truck matching that description near Maple and Ridge, police said.
A 38-year-old man and a 31-year-old man who were in the truck were arrested and booked into Sedgwick County Jail for burglary and larceny. The 38-year-old was also booked for driving on a suspended license.
Inside the truck, Wichita police found power tools taken from the under-construction home on 11th, Officer Charley Davidson said in a news release about the arrests. The tools were returned to the owner, Davidson said.
