Update: Police search for man who ‘rammed’ two bail bondsmen in Wichita
Wichita police are searching for a known suspect after he “rammed” two bail bondsmen’s car Thursday, police said.
Two bail bondsmen who went to serve a warrant to a 34-year-old man at about 9 a.m. Thursday were “rammed” several times by the man while in their car, according to police.
The bondsmen were hit by the man who had felony drug warrants, Sgt. Jim Pinegar with the Wichita Police Department said at the scene near Lincoln and Rock in east Wichita. Officer Paul Cruz identified the bail bondsmen as a 40-year-old man and a 19-year-old man.
After the man rammed the bondsmen with his car, the 40-year-old bondsman fired shots into the man’s vehicle as he drove away, Cruz said. Both the ramming and shooting happened in a driveway in the 900 block of S. Longfellow, police said.
No injuries were reported, Pinegar said, but the 34-year-old man who was shot at got away. Police do not know if the man was hit by gunfire, and his location is not known at this time.
The name of the 34-year-old man has not been released. Police said he was in a silver 2006 Chrysler 300 that is damaged from ramming into the bondsman’s car and being shot multiple times. Police did not say what bail bonds company the two men worked for or if they are under investigation for shooting at the 34-year-old.
