A 10-year-old Kansas boy stole mom’s car with friends. It didn’t end well, cops say

The Wichita Eagle

A 10-year-old Kansas boy could face multiple charges after police say he stole his mom’s car and crashed it a few blocks later.

The boy was joined by an 8-year-old boy, 5-year-old boy and 5-year old girl in the joyride at around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Salina police Capt. Paul Paul Forrester told the Salina Journal. One of the passengers was the boy’s younger brother, and the other two passengers were his friends.

The mother first reported that her 2000 Dodge Stratus was stolen, the Salina Post reported. She later told police that her son had taken the car keys while she wasn’t looking. She found them about three blocks away from her home.

That’s where the boy crashed his mom’s car into the rear driver’s side corner of a parked 1988 Suzuki Samurai, KSAL reported. The boy could face charges of theft, endangering a child and multiple traffic infractions.
