Wichita police search for suspect in 29th homicide of the year

Wichita police are searching for a suspect in the 29th homicide of the year. They did not release the suspect’s name Thursday but said they think he fled Wichita after striking 55-year-old Eula Duncan with an object.

Wichita police found Duncan dead Saturday in her home at the Longfellow Apartments, near Harry and Rock, Lt. Todd Ojile said.

Duncan and a man she knew got into an argument last Wednesday or Thursday that ended with him hitting her with an object, Ojile said. He would not say what the object was.

Ojile said people knew about the woman’s injuries, but she did not come out of her apartment for several days before police were called to check on her.

“Many knew she was injured and inside there,” Ojile said.
