One person in serious condition after south Wichita shooting, 911 dispatch says
One person is in serious condition after a south Wichita shooting, officials said.
A Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said one person was injured in the shooting reported at 7:44 p.m. at Dunham and Davidson. That's near East 31st Street South and I-35, in between Hillside and Oliver.
The man was shot once in his lower extremity during an altercation in the street involving three other people, Wichita police Sgt. Andrew Do said. The victim has cooperated with investigators. No arrests have been made, but police have identified suspects.
Emergency medical officials said in radio traffic that a man had been shot in his right buttocks. A dispatch supervisor said no other shootings had been reported at the time the call was made.
The intersection remained busy as three patrol vehicles were parked nearby. Several vehicles drove through the intersection as residents walked through the street and two boys rode bicycles by evidence markers.
Area residents shot off fireworks, both smaller firecrackers and larger Roman candles and mortars, as police investigated the shooting.
