Sheriff’s official: Goddard teens accused of sex crimes have bonded out of jail

Four Goddard teens have been arrested on suspicion of numerous sex crimes committed against a girl in rural Sedgwick County.

The boys were all taken into custody on Sept. 11, accused of sexual exploitation of a child, aggravated indecent liberties with a child and criminal restraint, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Capt. David Mattingly said. The arrests are linked to allegations of an incident that occurred on July 21.

The case is being investigated by the Exploited and Missing Child Unit, Mattingly said. Evidence has not yet been submitted to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office, which will determine what, if any, charges will be filed.

Mattingly would not reveal the ages of the four boys arrested, saying only that they were all juveniles and not all in the same grade in high school. They have bonded out of jail.

Mattingly also would not give the age of the girl identified as the victim in the case. EMCU officials have not responded to questions about the case.
