25-year-old man arrested in stabbing death of girlfriend, Wichita police say

Wichita police are investigating the third domestic violence-related homicide of the year, Officer Charley Davidson said Tuesday.

A 25-year-old man called 911 and told dispatchers at around 2 a.m. that he had harmed his 22-year-old girlfriend in their apartment in the 1900 block of North Amidon.

When police arrived, the man was found armed with a knife. The woman, who had multiple stab wounds, was pronounced dead, Davidson said.

Police are investigating what led to the stabbing, Davidson said.

No one else was inside the apartment at the time of the incident, he said.

The 25-year-old was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder, Davidson said.
