Man died of blunt force injuries to face, Wichita police say

Two men are in jail on suspicion of voluntary manslaughter after they told police they fought with a 39-year-old man and punched him in the face, Lt. Todd Ojile said.

When police were called to the 200 block of North Sabin about a disturbance at around 4 p.m. Wednesday, they found the 39-year-old man dead inside a home with blunt force trauma to his face.

The two other men in the home told police they didn't know the 39-year-old, but invited him inside. Then a fight broke out. Police don't know what led up to that altercation, Ojile said.

Both the men — identified as Bryce A. Martin, 29, and Rick R. Oden, 64, in booking reports — were arrested pending the outcome of an autopsy, Ojile said.

A third man was arrested on suspicion of drug possession.

The 39-year-old man has not yet been identified.
