Update: Naked man shot in leg while trying to purchase gun at car wash, police say
A naked man with a gunshot wound to his leg was left behind a Wichita church after meeting two men to purchase guns, police said.
The 23-year-old man and a friend met the two men at a car wash near Harry and Washington earlier in the evening. During the sale, the 23-year-old was pulled into the seller's vehicle and robbed of his clothes and electronics, Officer Charley Davidson said Tuesday.
The man was then shot in his leg in the alley behind Iglesia Christiana Jehova-Jireh, a church in the 1200 block of South Lulu at around 6 p.m., police said.
He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has been released, police said.
Police are still investigating why the man was pulled into the vehicle and if the weapons transaction was legal. His friend was left at the car wash and was not injured.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111. Police are still trying to identify the suspects.
