Drug experts with the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office will be out in full force on the weekend of 4/20.

The sheriff's office is joining other law enforcement agencies in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Iowa and Arkansas in the extra patrols April 20 to April 22 to stop the "increasing epidemic" of impaired driving, a sheriff's office release said.

"Impaired driving is not a victimless crime," the release said. "All available Drug Recognition Expert and Advanced Roadside Impaired Driver Enforcement officers will be out in force in an effort to remove this danger."

April 20, or 4/20, is the stoner holiday when people tend to smoke more marijuana than usual.

"Even one death is unacceptable," Sheriff Jeff Easter said in the release. "Please don’t drive while impaired, slow down, put the phone away or turn it off, and always buckle up."
