Police identify woman's body found in liquor store dumpster

A woman who was found dead in a liquor store dumpster on Sunday evening has been identified, Wichita police said Monday afternoon.

A customer found the body in the dumpster at The Cave in the 1700 block of South Seneca and told an employee, who then called police about 6 p.m., Officer Charley Davidson said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. She had blunt force trauma injuries, Davidson said.

The 38-year-old woman's death is being investigated as the 12th homicide of the year, Davidson said. Police have not released her name, but said Monday afternoon that she has been identified.

Police said they think the crime happened at a house in the 1100 block of West Dayton, near Kellogg and Seneca. Investigators blocked off the house and surrounding area on Monday afternoon.

The house is about a mile from the liquor store.

Police continue to investigate the case and ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
