Man in critical condition after shooting near 13th and Oliver
A 36-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot during an altercation early Tuesday evening, police said.
Wichita police Sgt. Joseph Springob said the man was involved in an altercation with three people, ranging in age from 18 to 20, in the 1400 block of North Pinecrest. That’s approximately two blocks to the east of 13th and Oliver.
The man received a gunshot wound “possibly to the stomach,” a Sedgwick County emergency dispatcher said.
He was able to drive himself to a QuikTrip at the corner of 13th and Oliver, where he reported the shooting shortly after 5:30 p.m., Springob said.
He was transported to Wesley Medical Center in critical condition, the dispatcher said.
As of 6:30 p.m., police were still looking for the three suspects, Springob said.
“We’re very early on in the investigation,” he said.
Springob said he did not know whether the involved parties knew each other.
