2.5 pounds of Fentanyl found during Kansas traffic stop

Two people from Mexico were arrested in Dickinson County on Monday after deputies found 2.5 pounds of pure Fentanyl in their vehicle, according to a news release.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that has caused fatal overdoses across the United States. It’s 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine.

After the stop, deputies were given consent to search the 2011 Nissan car, the release said.

Victor Hugo Fimbres Pesqueir, 27; and Diana Aracely Manjarrez Beltran, 32, both of Mexico, were arrested on suspicion of possession with the intent to distribute an opiate, possession of drug paraphernalia and no drug tax stamp.

The sheriff’s office estimates the street value of 1 kilogram of Fentanyl is $1.3 million.

Further arrests are possible, the release said.
