Dog in quarantine after it bites baby at grandparents’ house

A dog is in mandatory quarantine after biting a baby who crawled into its kennel Tuesday morning.

The 1-year-old was bitten by a boxer after it crawled into the dog’s kennel at the baby’s grandparents’ house in the 200 block of North Dellrose at around 9 a.m., Officer Charley Davidson said. The boy was taken to a hospital with serious injuries from bite wounds in several places.

The dog is in a mandatory 10-day quarantine with animal control, which Davidson said is standard protocol.

It is not known how the baby got into the kennel, or if the baby and dog had been around each other before. Police are still investigating the incident.
