Two men arrested in aggravated assault case involving cars
Two men were arrested Friday night in connection with an aggravated assault in the 100 block of South St. Clair, police said Saturday.
The incident happened before midnight, near Douglas and Meridian, when a man confronted two men about damage to the car of a friend of his, police Sgt. Brian Sigman said. The two men then beat the man up, and one of the suspects got in his car and tried to run the man over, Sigman said. The man got out of the way, and the suspect’s car then hit the car that originally had been damaged, the sergeant said. Another man tried to break up the fight and was also beaten up, Sigman said.
When officers arrived, the two suspects — 29 and 25 years old — were still on the scene and were taken into custody, Sigman said. The 25-year-old resisted arrest and had that charge added to other misdemeanors, the sergeant said. The 29-year-old was arrested on a felony and misdemeanor charges, he said. None of the victims required medical attention.
