Man sentenced for repeated thefts from Wichita YMCAs
A man who has repeatedly stolen items from Wichita YMCAs has been sentenced to more than three years in prison, the District Attorney’s Office said Monday.
Daron Guy, 27, was sentenced to 41 months, the office said in an e-mailed news release.
According to the news release, Guy was previously convicted of felony theft for stealing a backpack and contents valued at more than $400 from the South YMCA on March 26, 2012. In 2011, YMCA officials banned Guy from its locations.
Guy was convicted of entering the West YMCA on April 18, 2013, and taking items including car keys from a locker area. “Guy had developed a method of bypassing the combination locks in the locker rooms,” the news release said. That theft resulted in a car being stolen and damaged, according to statements at Guy’s sentencing last week.
