Gunfire erupts after man asked to leave house party near 29th and Arkansas
Several people escaped injury following a drive-by shooting in north Wichita early Sunday morning, police said.
The shooting occurred at about 4:30 a.m. shortly after a man was asked to leave a house party in the 2900 block of North Salina, Lt. James Espinoza said. That’s a few blocks west of Arkansas and just south of 29th Street North.
The 21-year-old woman hosting the party asked a 20-year-old man to leave the house, Espinoza said. Either as he was leaving or shortly after he left and returned, the man is suspected of firing several shots at the house.
A police report on the incident indicates four to five shots were fired, with a bullet fragment found inside the house and damage to the exterior of the dwelling also discovered.
There were a handful of people inside the house at the time of the shooting, according to the report. Police are still looking for the suspect in the case.
