Update: Man stabbed during clash in Oaklawn has died

A man in his thirties died late Wednesday after being stabbed during a clash in Oaklawn earlier in the day, authorities said.

The stabbing happened in the 3300 block of East Sunview in Oaklawn, Capt. Mark Pierce of the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said. The injured man was found in the middle of the street, just west of Sunview and Englewood.

The stabbing occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m., Lt. Lin Dehning said late Wednesday in a prepared statement.

Deputies were originally called about a disturbance. A neighbor several houses east of the scene said he heard lots of yelling before deputies arrived.

What led up to the stabbing is still under investigation, Pierce said.

Darius D. Warner, 30, was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail shortly before 8 p.m. on suspicion of first-degree murder, records show. He is an acquaintance of the man who was killed.

The name of the man who died is being withheld pending notification of relatives, Dehning said.

“We are not looking for any other suspects in this case,” he said.

Investigators were seen knocking on nearby doors, trying to talk to neighbors on Wednesday morning. Pierce said it’s possible they have several witnesses.
