Wichita police investigates ‘school-type’ threats made on Twitter
After possible threats involving a “school-type situation” were made on Twitter at about 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8, Wichita police began investigating.
They found that the tweets made by a 22-year-old male were not threats, but rather part of a larger conversation with his 39-year-old mother.
The department was able to contact both the son and the mom, and no charges were made, officer Charley Davidson said.
The department was notified of the possible Twitter threat by an outside organization that was monitoring social media.
If you see possible threats online, Davidson said to contact the police so that they can investigate.
