One injured in west Wichita shooting
Officers on Saturday were investigating two shooting scenes after a series of incidents in west Wichita, according to emergency dispatchers and emergency radio traffic.
At least one person was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the arm, according to emergency radio traffic. Sedgwick County dispatch said the shooting was reported at about 6:50 p.m. but would not give a specific location or other details.
Emergency radio traffic indicated police were investigating two shootings near Maple and Maize and near Eighth and Hoover. Radio traffic also indicated that the shots were fired from a vehicle and that a police pursuit was involved. Some of the shots fired struck homes in a residential neighborhood, according to emergency radio traffic.
Police also were blocking traffic near I-235 and Zoo Boulevard on Saturday evening. Police were interviewing witnesses in the area.
