Angry Wichita grandmother goes after grandson with tree branch, car
It’s never really a good idea to make your grandmother mad.
Consider what happened to a 27-year-old Wichita man who began swearing at his grandmother during a domestic dispute Monday afternoon. The man was arguing with his 19-year-old girlfriend at about 4 p.m., accusing her of having an affair with their landlord at an apartment building in the 700 block of South Marcilene, Lt. James Espinoza said. That’s south of Kellogg and west of Edgemoor.
The argument spilled outside at one point, and then the woman began throwing her boyfriend’s belongings out of the apartment, Espinoza said. He went into the apartment to retrieve his young child, at which point he began arguing with his grandmother.
At some point, she picked up a tree branch more than 2 feet long and hit him with it, Espinoza said. The man became angry and began swearing at his 68-year-old grandmother. She then got into a car and tried to run him over, though he managed to avoid being struck.
Officers arrived at the scene about then and arrested the grandmother and girlfriend, Espinoza said, who had punched the man in the face during their argument.
