A Wichita man was indicted Tuesday in connection with robberies at two local hotels earlier this year, authorities said.
Darrell E. Black, 24, has been charged in federal court with two counts of commercial robbery, two counts of brandishing a firearm during a robbery and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm following a felony conviction, U.S. Attorney Tom Beall said.
Black is accused of robbing the Extended Stay America at 9450 E. Corporate Hills on May 27. Two days later, he allegedly robbed the Days Inn and Suites at 7321 E. Kellogg.
If he is convicted, Black could face up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each robbery count; at least seven years and a fine of as much as $250,000 on each count of brandishing a firearm; and as much as 10 years and a fine as high as $250,000 on each count of felon in possession of a firearm.
