Man shows revolver, demands ride from Olde English Manor parking lot

A armed man approached another man early Saturday in a parking lot of Olde English Manor Apartments, showed a gun and demanded to be taken to a nearby convenience store, Wichita police said.

The victim, a 20-year-old man, told police the man pointed a black revolver at him during the confrontation, which happened at about 2:20 a.m. at 2323 N. Woodlawn, Sgt. John Hoofer said. The 20-year-old complied with the man’s demands and drove to QuikTrip at 1414 N. Oliver “in fear for his life,” Hoofer said. When the pair arrived, the man exited the 20-year-old’s vehicle and got into another, then left. The 20-year-old was not hurt.

“There were no threats or anything like that, he just demanded a ride and he gave him one,” Hoofer said. Officers combed the area but were unable to find anyone fitting a description given to police.

The armed man is described as black, in his 40s, 5-foot-9 and 140 pounds with a thin build. He was wearing a dark-colored shirt, blue jean shorts and brown panty hose over his face at the time, Hoofer said. He did not have a description of the vehicle that the suspect left QuikTrip in. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police.
