Man arrested in Sunday afternoon shooting
A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a weapon as a felon after a shooting Sunday afternoon.
The shooting stemmed from a fight that happened in the 1700 block of South Sedgwick over a stolen bike, Wichita police Capt. Doug Nolte said Monday.
One of the women involved was escorted out of the area by other people, he said. She got into a vehicle, left, then returned and sideswiped an occupied car, Nolte said.
The man inside the car got out and fired several shots toward the woman, Nolte said. She was not injured.
Both drivers began following each other until one car eventually rammed into a fence at a nearby church. Everyone in the vehicles left before police arrived other than Robert J. Rountree, who was still in the car and was later arrested, according to booking reports.
