Wichita police detective released from jail after burglary, damage charges
A Wichita police detective has been released on bond from the Butler County Jail after being charged with aggravated burglary and criminal damage to property, Sheriff Kelly Herzet said Thursday.
The detective, Lisa Walker, has been suspended with pay, said Lt. James Espinoza, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department. Walker is a 22-year veteran and is assigned to the larceny section, Espinoza said.
On Wednesday, Butler County prosecutors charged Walker with aggravated burglary and criminal damage to property, both felonies, and misdemeanor theft. A judge in El Dorado set her bond at $60,000 and ordered her to wear a GPS ankle monitor.
A prosecutor said Walker is accused of burglarizing an Augusta home when three people were present. The prosecutor said Walker had been involved in a domestic relationship with a victim or victims in the case, that the relationship ended a year ago but that Walker was “still pursuing” a victim or victims.
Walker’s next court appearance is May 4.
On Tuesday, Augusta Department of Public Safety Chief Tyler Brewer said Augusta police are accusing Walker of entering the attached garage of an occupied home in the 500 block of Stone Lake Drive in Augusta on Friday evening and damaging a vehicle.
