Caught with 60 pounds of fentanyl, California man faces charge in federal court
A 28-year-old man was caught with more than 60 pounds of fentanyl in his car in May, and now he faces a charge in federal court.
Carlos Fernando Fernandez-Gonzalez of Yucaipa, Calif., has been charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, U.S. Attorney Tom Beall said in a statement.
The Kansas Highway Patrol stopped Fernandez-Gonzalez on May 25 in Russell County. The trooper found the powerful synthetic opioid in his vehicle.
If convicted he faces a penalty of at least 10 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $10 million.
