Wichita man to serve 37 years for 2016 burglary, kidnapping
A man accused of breaking into a Wichita home and assaulting three people in 2016 has been sentenced, according to a news release from Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett.
Jason Ross, 23, of Wichita was sentenced Wednesday to more than 37 years in prison after being convicted of crimes related to a break-in at a home on North Brunswick in west Wichita on May 1, 2016, the release said.
According to court documents, Ross was among several gunmen wearing hockey masks who broke into the home and forced a resident of the home, his girlfriend and his brother to undress. The three were then beaten and robbed.
All three were treated for injuries at a Wichita hospital. The day after the crimes were committed, the release said, Ross posted a photo of himself wearing sneakers that were taken from the home.
In April, a jury convicted Ross of three counts of aggravated kidnapping, three counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of aggravated battery and a single count of aggravated burglary.
A co-defendant, Jordan Bell, pleaded guilty to charges related to the crimes, the release said, and was sentenced in May to 16 years in prison. Ross was also ordered by a judge to pay more than $11,200 in restitution.
