Stores near each other robbed 30 minutes apart, police say
Two armed robberies took place late Monday night at businesses only a few blocks apart in east Wichita, according to police.
The first armed robbery took place, Officer Charley Davidson said, at the Valero convenience store at 7101 E. Lincoln at about 10 p.m. on Monday.
An employee told police that two men, one with a yellow bandana covering his face, came into the store and demanded property. One of the men had a black handgun, the employee said.
Police then received a call about an armed robbery about 30 minutes later at the Circle K store at the corner of South Oliver and Mt. Vernon, Davidson said.
In the second robbery, an employee of the Circle K said that two men – one wearing a yellow bandana over his face and one with a black handgun – entered the store and demanded money, leaving with an undisclosed amount.
No injuries were reported in either robbery. An armed robbery at the same Valero store was reported last month.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact the Wichita Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
