A 23-year-old Garden City man was killed Sunday after another man was asked to leave a house party, Garden City police said in a news release.

Authorities who responded to a 911 call shortly after 3:30 a.m found Carlos Romero lying in living room of a residence at 508 W. Thompson with a stab wound to his upper body. Police say Romero was having a party at his house when 23-year-old Alberto Tello showed up and a verbal fight between him and others ensued. Romero followed Tello outside after Tello was told to go to make sure he left the property, police said.

“Once Tello and Romero made it outside, Tello turned and stabbed Romero” then fled, according to the news release. Romero returned to the home, told partygoers he’d been stabbed and someone alerted authorities. He died later at a Garden City hospital.

Police found Tello hiding in a bedroom of his house in the 2900 block of Fleming Street and arrested him without trouble, police said. He was booked into the Finney County Jail and could face a second-degree murder charge, according to the news release.
