Park man arrested on suspicion of murder after clash in Quinter leaves one dead
A 24-year-old man has been arrested following a suspected homicide in Quinter early Tuesday, authorities said.
A dispute between two men occurred at about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday in a motel room at the 1st Inn in Quinter, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. During the fight, James “Dalton” Brown received multiple stab wounds.
Brown, 24, was taken to Gove County Medical Center, where he died, according to the KBI. A Quinter woman, 23-year-old Jordyn O’Neal, was also injured in the clash and was transported to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis in Wichita with injuries that are not life-threatening.
Authorities began looking for Anthony Turner, 24, of nearby Park, who was believed to be the second man involved in the dispute. Turner was arrested by the Gove County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol at a residence on the north side of Quinter at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.
He was taken to the Gove County Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound, which he sustained during the altercation at the motel, according to the KBI. The wound is not life-threatening.
He was later booked into the Trego County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder, according to the KBI.
