Drive-by shooting reported near Hillside and Pawnee

Wichita police responded to a drive-by shooting near Hillside and Pawnee early Tuesday morning, according to a department spokesman.

Officer Paul Cruz said the shooting occurred in the 3400 block of East Cessna. A 40-year-old woman told police she was driving on East Cessna with two passengers – a 19-year-old woman and a 14-year-old boy – when someone in a silver hatchback car fired shots at her vehicle.

The woman’s vehicle was not hit by gunfire and no injuries were reported, though shell casings were found near the scene, Cruz said.

Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
