Reno County Sheriff’s Office seeks info on Saturday arsons
The Reno County Sheriff’s Office wants to talk to anyone who might have information on 14 arson cases in southern Reno County that occurred between 6:30 and 11 a.m. Saturday.
At around 7 a.m. Saturday, the first fire was set near Arlington and Herren roads, six miles east of Arlington. Thirteen more fires were then set over a 20-mile span to the west of that location, generally within two miles of Parallel Road, Sheriff Randy Henderson said in a Facebook post Saturday night.
The fires were all in open fields, and no structures were damaged. The largest fire damaged “several hundred acres” near Parallel and Avery roads, Henderson said.
The Reno County Sheriff’s Office does not have any suspects. Anyone who might have witnessed suspicious activity in this area of southern Reno County is asked to call 911 or Reno County Crime Stoppers at 316-694-2666.
