Investigators think a shooting that wounded a 27-year-old woman outside Jezebel’s nightclub was gang-related, a Sedgwick County sheriff’s official said Wednesday.

Lt. David Mattingly gave this account: At 1:13 a.m. Monday, deputies responded to a shooting in the parking lot of Jezebel’s, 4520 E. 47th South. Most of the people involved in a fight had already left. At 1:36 a.m., St. Francis hospital reported that a 27-year-old woman came into the emergency room with a gunshot wound to her lower leg, and deputies went to the ER to investigate.

On Monday, authorities booked a 25-year-old man and a 23-year-old man into jail on suspicion of aggravated battery, aggravated assault and criminal possession of a firearm, Mattingly said. No charges have been filed; the case will be presented to prosecutors.

People on both sides of the fight are documented gang members, he said. The fight began with an argument in the club that spilled into the parking lot and led to shots being fired, he said.
