A 42-year-old Goddard woman has been ordered to repay more than $70,000 she admitted stealing from the company she worked for in Wichita.

Cheryl Applegate, 42, pleaded guilty to theft in Sedgwick County District Court in March, Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett said in a prepared statement. Judge Dave Dahl ordered Applegate to repay the $72,000 she stole from Decker Electric between 2010 and 2012.

Applegate has five years to repay the money in monthly installments to Decker Electric, Bennett said. In sworn testimony at her sentencing, Decker employees testified that Applegate used the company credit card on personal expenses and took cash from the company.

Dahl told Applegate that if she missed restitution payments, she would have to return to court to explain why.
