Socks come in handy for Wichita robbers

Two men wearing socks over their hands robbed a Family Dollar store, Wichita police said Monday

The robbery occurred at about 8 p.m. Sunday at the Family Dollar in the 5100 block of East 21st Street, Wichita police Sgt. Nikki Woodrow said.

She said one suspect walked to the register and indicated he had a gun; a sock covered his hand. He demanded money.

A second suspect stepped behind the counter, with a sock covering his hand and indicated he had a gun.

The suspects were described as a black man, age 23, 5 feet 10, 170 pounds with a green hooded sweatshirt and jeans; a black man, 25, 6 feet, 160 pounds, with a gray hooded sweatshirt and jeans and a black bandana over his face.
