Shots fired into air at convenience store robbery

At least one of two armed robbers fired multiple shots into the air during a robbery at a north Wichita convenience store early Sunday morning, police said Monday.

That information was among some of the new details police provided about the crime, at the Valero store at 21st Street and Minnesota.

A 44-year-old man had just walked out of the store when the robbers demanded items from him, Wichita police Sgt. Nikki Woodrow said. It happened at about 3:30 a.m. The victim wasn’t injured.

The suspects’ descriptions: black male, 5-foot-10, 190 pounds, dressed in all black, including a black trench coat; black female, 5-foot-4, 150 pounds, blue jeans, white T-shirt.

The suspects left in a black Ford Escape or Mazda Tribute with tinted windows and a temporary tag.
