The Wichita Police Department said it’s seen a slight increase in trailer thefts across the city of Wichita in the past couple months.

As a precautionary measure, the WPD offered tips to prevent trailer thefts:

▪ Park the trailer in a locked garage, secured storage facility or well-lit, fenced-in area

▪ Use a trailer hitch lock and put the lock in a hard-to-reach area

▪ Use a high-quality chain and lock the trailer to a fixed object, such as a tree

▪ Park another vehicle in front of the trailer to block it in

▪ Document trailer with photographs and any numbers on the trailer

▪ Install a tracking device on the trailer

▪ Use a tire boot, or a locking-type device with lug nuts to keep the trailer secure.
