Gunfire hits apartments on South Oliver, police say

Gunfire appears to have hit two apartments in a complex in the 1700 block of South Oliver, police said Monday.

Wichita police Sgt. Nikki Woodrow gave this account: Around 1:45 a.m. Sunday officers responded to a report of vandalism. A 46-year-old man in an apartment also occupied by a 10-year-old girl said the front window of the apartment had been shot twice.

Officers also found damage to another apartment, occupied by a 70-year-old woman and a 29-year-old woman.

No one was injured, Woodrow said.

It’s not clear how the shots were fired, but it is possible that someone fired from a car, she said.

She asked that anyone with information about the gunfire call investigators, 316-268-4407, or Crime Stoppers, 316-267-2111.
