A 58-year-old woman is recovering from fractured ribs and facial injuries after a disturbance Saturday at a Dillons parking lot in west Wichita.

The woman told police she was outside the store at Central and Maize Road when a 17-year-old boy, whom she did not know, walked up to her shortly after 11 a.m. and pushed her several times, causing her to fall to the ground, according to Sgt. Joe Kennedy, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.

The woman was transported to Wesley West Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.

The teen was taken into custody by police on suspicion of aggravated battery and taken for medical evaluation before being transported to the Sedgwick County Juvenile Detention Facility.
