Man charged with abuse after 1-year-old found with injuries

A 20-year-old man has been charged with child abuse and “great bodily harm” in connection with serious injuries suffered by his girlfriend’s young daughter.

Along with child abuse, Talyn Roades was charged Thursday in Sedgwick County District Court with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. His bond was set at $50,000, with his preliminary hearing set for next month.

The 1-year-old girl has a skull fracture, broken bones in both arms and an injured leg that required a cast, authorities have said.

The abuse case remains under investigation, Sgt. Nikki Woodrow said Thursday.
