Shirtless occupants in truck run over man after fight

Wichita police are looking for two men after another man was run over by a pickup truck Wednesday night.

A 28-year-old woman was walking in the 900 block of N. Main around 9:45 p.m. when a 34-year-old man confronted her, Sgt. Nikki Woodrow said.

Two men in a pickup stopped to check on her. And one started fighting with the 34-year-old man.

“The 34-year-old male then took off toward a parking lot when he tripped and fell,” Woodrow said. “The other white male was driving a 1990s model blue pickup and actually ran over the 34-year-old male in the parking lot.”

The injured man was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The two men in the pickup were white, in their late 30s with red hair.

One had a long beard and blue jean shorts. The other had a short beard and was wearing blue gym shorts. Neither was wearing a shirt or shoes.

“They stopped and helped. That was probably the right thing to do,” Woodrow said. “But once he took off running and ran away, then that’s the time to pick up the cell phone and call police.”

“They thought that they did the right thing. However things, I think, just got a little out of hand and so now we’re going to look to them to talk about the incident.”
