Today is the 96th anniversary women’s right to vote, or women’s suffrage.

In honor of Aug. 26 being Women’s Equality Day, a local group is kicking off its “Vote Like a Mother” campaign to encourage women, and everyone, to cast a ballot Nov. 8 for local and national elections.

Vote Like a Mother is a project started by the Health & Wellness Coalition of Wichita – the group that put bike lanes through the streets of Wichita.

Vote Like a Mother is mostly a social media effort that provides basic voting information, such as where and when polls are open, how to vote and when to register. And it also provides educational material about candidates, but the group does not endorse any candidates or parties – it just provides materials about each.

The group’s Facebook is https://www.facebook.com/votelikeamother/. Followers can subscribe to Facebook events from Vote Like a Mother to receive notifications about voting deadlines.
